React Native Developer
Landfolk is looking for a React Native developer to help us bring the holiday home experience to mobile. This is our first mobile hire, and you'll shape how we build for mobile from the ground up.
About the role
We're not looking for someone who just ports web features to mobile. We want a developer who understands that mobile is fundamentally different. Someone who thinks in gestures, not clicks, and builds for thumbs, not cursors.
You'll be our mobile architect and builder rolled into one. Starting from zero, you'll create our React Native apps for iOS and Android, working directly in our product team to reimagine Landfolk for the small screen.
This isn't a job where you'll be handed mockups to implement. You'll be involved from the first sketch, shaping not just how the app works, but what it should be. We follow 6-week cycles inspired by Shape Up, where you'll have real autonomy to solve problems and ship features that matter.
What you'll actually do
Here's what your work might look like over the next few months:
Build our first React Native app from the ground up, making architectural decisions that will last years
Create smooth, native-feeling experiences for browsing and booking holiday homes
Implement offline capabilities so guests and hosts can access their details without signal
Integrate with our existing Rails GraphQL API, and help shape new endpoints for mobile needs
Set up our mobile CI/CD pipeline and release processes for both app stores
Implement push notifications that are actually useful, not annoying
Create shared component libraries that work across iOS and Android
About you
You've shipped React Native apps that real people use. Maybe you've worked at a product company, maybe you've built your own apps, or maybe you've been the mobile lead at a startup. What matters is that you know the difference between an app that works and an app that delights.
You write TypeScript like it's your first language. You understand when to reach for native modules and when React Native is enough. You know the quirks of both platforms and how to make each feel right.
You're comfortable being the mobile expert in the room, but you're not precious about it. You can explain technical decisions without jargon and push back on bad ideas with better alternatives.
The technical bits
Our backend is Ruby on Rails with GraphQL, our web apps are Next.js with TypeScript, and everything runs on Kubernetes. You don't need to be an expert in all of this, but you should be excited about understanding how it all fits together.
You'll work with:
React Native (obviously)
TypeScript for type safety
GraphQL for API communication
Native modules when needed
Testing frameworks that actually catch bugs
CI/CD pipelines that ship without drama
Working at Landfolk
We work hybrid from our beautiful office in Aarhus. You'll have flexibility to work from home some days, but we believe the best products come from teams that actually work together. We care more about the work you produce than the hours you keep.
What it's like to work here:
Low-distraction work environment: Focus on your tasks without constant meetings, "important" emails or one-off requests
Being part of a great team: Work alongside specialists in tech, business, design, community and communication who love collaborating
Flexible hybrid working: Split your time between our beautiful office and home, with flexible hours
Culture: Casual tone, lots of laughs, and room for diversity. We're an entrepreneurial company full of drive and great team spirit
Great coffee and food: Outstanding coffee and we love to gather and celebrate – eating well while we do
Real ownership of the mobile platform
Regular trips to beautiful holiday homes (for research, naturally)
The practical stuff
This is a full-time hybrid position based in or around Aarhus. You'll work from our office several days a week, with flexibility for remote work on other days. We're looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Don't send us a generic CV. Tell us about the apps you've built. Show us code you're proud of. Explain a hard mobile problem you solved. Share an app (any app) you admire and tell us why.
When you apply, include:
Links to apps you've built (App Store, Google Play, or TestFlight)
Your GitHub or code samples
A few paragraphs about why you want to build mobile apps at Landfolk
Your thoughts on what makes a great vacation rental mobile experience
We're not looking for the perfect candidate. We're looking for someone who gets what we're trying to build and wants to help us build it.
We'll review applications on a rolling basis. No AI screening, no automated rejections. Real humans will read what you send.
Landfolk helps people search for the exceptional and find the unforgettable. We're building Europe's most ambitious platform for premium holiday homes, and we need your help to put it in everyone's pocket.
